Why study in the netherlands ?
Looking for an international campus, active teaching and affordable fees? Head for the Netherlands. Here, more than 2,200 programs are offered 100% in English from the bachelor's level upwards: no preparatory courses, no bridging courses, just straight to the heart of the matter. Classes are held in small groups, participation is the order of the day, and practical projects abound - ideal for building confidence and a solid CV.
The atmosphere is resolutely cosmopolitan: almost one student in six comes from abroad, and the student cities (Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam...) are vibrant all year round. Tuition fees remain reasonable for Europeans - around €2,600 per year - and a Dutch loan can supplement your budget if you have a job on the spot. Diplomas recognized throughout the EU, high employability and, for curious minds, Liberal Arts Colleges like AUC or UCU where you can create your own multidisciplinary pathway.

University or College: which to choose?
In the Netherlands, there are two routes open to students: the traditional university route and the college route, attached to a major public university.
Research universities offer three-year bachelor's degrees. Their teaching focuses on theory, research and analysis, and is therefore aimed at academics who are curious about abstract concepts and capable of sustained independent work. This is the typical option at the University of Amsterdam, Leiden or TU Delft.
Colleges come in two formats.
— Universities of Applied Sciences offer practical four-year programs interspersed with internships, ideal for students who want to enter professional life quickly.
— Liberal Arts Colleges (AUC, UCU, LUC...) offer a selective, small-group setting, an all-English curriculum and an à la carte, multidisciplinary menu, ideal for multi-talented minds.

Université d’Amsterdam (UvA)
Founded in 1632, the UvA is today the largest research university in the Netherlands, recognized worldwide for its humanities, social sciences, AI and quantum physics. Its downtown and Science Park campuses foster start-up culture and interdisciplinary research, securing it a regular place in the QS top 60 worldwide. Pioneering astronomer Anton Pannekoek and former Dutch Prime Minister Wim Kok studied here.
Université de Leiden (LEI)
Founded in 1575 by William of Orange, Leiden is the country's oldest university and excels in law, international relations, archaeology and fundamental physics. A member of the Europaeum network, it boasts 16 Nobel Prize winners and alumni such as Queen Beatrix and linguist Christiaan Huygens.
Amsterdam University College (AUC)
Launched in 2009 under the joint auspices of UvA and Vrije Universiteit, AUC offers an honours program in liberal arts and sciences, taught in English on a residential campus in Science Park. Small class sizes, an international student body and a focus on “major global issues” have already made it one of Europe's most selective colleges.
Erasmus University College (EUC)
Opened in 2013, the EUC offers an interdisciplinary liberal arts and sciences curriculum in the former municipal library. Students compose thematic majors - from global health to entrepreneurship - while taking advantage of the port city's dynamic ecosystem and proximity to European decision-making centers.
Leiden University College The Hague (LUC)
Inaugurated in 2010, LUC is Leiden University's selective honors college, focusing on major global challenges such as peace and justice, sustainable development and governance. Located a stone's throw from the International Court of Justice, it offers a residential setting, problem-based learning and compulsory community projects, preparing its graduates for careers in diplomacy, NGOs and international law.
